Art Therapy Community
The good news is that the Midwest is becoming much more welcoming of alternative creative modalities for therapy. We have a Drama Therapist building ties in Omaha, a Dance and Movement Therapist doing amazing work, and the network of art therapists is steadily growing. With this encouraging growth, however, is the risk of diffusing the definition of Art Therapist with clinicians who have taken a weekend training, or months-long certification in expressive arts therapy rather than the full Master's plus copious supervision that is required for an Art Therapist. As you research your options, it is important that you are informed of the education - or lack thereof - of potential therapists. Below, I have compiled a list of excellent Art Therapists in our community.
If you are an Art Therapist in Omaha that is not included on this list, please contact me! I would love to meet you and grow our network.
